The Hirslanden Cranio-Facial Centre (cfc) provides the services listed below. In addition to their contribution to interdisciplinary treatments, individual specialists particularly cover the whole range of treatments represented by their respective specialist areas.

 

Maxillofacial surgery

• Orthognathic surgery (correction of jaw misplacements) in collaboration with maxillary orthopaedists 
• Corrective osteotomies in connection with sleep apnoea (in collaboration with sleep clinics)
  
• Defect reconstruction following tumour operations with pedunculate or micro-vascular transfer of replacement tissue
• Pre-prosthetic surgery and implants
• Oral surgery: extraction of misplaced teeth, treatment of bone cysts and tumours 

 

Neurosurgery

• Cerebro-vascular surgery: aneurisms and vascular malformations (AVM), treatment of cerebral haemorrhages, by-pass operations in connection with low cerebral perfusion  
• Disorders of fluid circulation: operations for hydrocephalus  
• Brain tumours  
• Janetta operations in connection with trigeminal neuralgias and hemifacial spasm 

 

Basilar surgery

• Interdisciplinary treatment of complex basilar tumours 

 

Orbital surgery

• Tumours and vascular malformations of the eye sockets  
• Decompression operations in connection with Basedow’s disease  
• Corrective operations in connection with malformations and accident-induced deformities 

 

Cranio-Facial surgery

• Facial and basilar traumatology: acute care of simple and complex facial injuries with or without basilar involvement (no severe skull/brain traumas) 
  
• Secondary corrections following facial-skull injuries  
• Interdisciplinary examination and treatment of congenital facial malformations
