Week 39The baby is lying in the birthing position

Stretched out, your child is around 50 cm in length. With crossed arms and bent knees, it has to really curl itself together to even find space to move in your stomach. Its freedom of movement is thus significantly limited, and rarely moves. If it is awake, its eyes are open practically all the time. The baby's gums are strongly grooved; below them lies its little jaw.

You may have gathered information on the various pain relief options during childbirth; for example, by attending an antenatal course. You will find further information here on pain relief options and birthing aids which are available to you in one of the Hirslanden hospitals.
