Postnatal ward

After the monitoring period in the labour ward, we will accompany you to your room on the postnatal ward. You and your partner will have time to get to know your child. We continue to help you with the bonding process and are there to offer you support and advice. You will be looked after by a registered nurse and enjoy comprehensive, individually tailored care to enable you to get back to your normal daily routine as soon as possible and care for your baby yourself.

During your stay at the clinic, our nurses, midwives and doctors will be there to support you and your baby around the clock. Your doctor will visit you on a regular basis and will coordinate with the nursing staff and midwives. Our nurses will provide you with tips on breastfeeding and instruct you on how to feed your baby. We are committed to ensuring that you and your baby feel comfortable on our postnatal ward.

Rooming-in-system

The relationship between mother and child is of central importance to us on the postnatal ward. Our rooming-in-system ensures that your child can be with you day and night. You will get to know your baby’s needs and be able to care for your child independently. If you are looking for a moment’s peace, you can go to our nursery at any time. Your child will be cared for lovingly by our nursing staff. You and your partner can visit, wrap, bathe and care for your child in the nursery.

Baby care

You will gradually be introduced to babycare (wrapping, bathing, breastfeeding, feeding) by your registered nurse on our postnatal ward. You will learn to understand your baby’s needs and how to respond to them. The babycare will be structured to meet your requirements in agreement with your registered nurse. She will support you with your daily routine, so you can care for your baby yourself as soon as possible.

You can also visit our babycare course (in German). This course will help you learn how to better recognise your child’s needs and to react to them appropriately. The topics of this course include how to deal with a crying baby, sleeping and waking phases, feeding, illnesses, babycare and development. This course will also offer tips on basic equipment and baby pharmacies.

Security for your baby

We ensure that your baby is offered the best possible security, care and supervision. Your baby will be looked after by trained, specialist nurses on the postnatal ward. If your baby requires specific medical care or monitoring, it will be expertly treated by our paediatricians. A paediatrician is on duty 24 hours a day. If there are any complications, Klinik Im Park works together closely with the Children’s Hospital and the University Hospital Zurich.

Our aim is to support you with your recovery wherever we can and to be there for you. Please inform the nursing staff when you plan to leave the ward.
