Our aim is to support you with your recovery wherever we can and to be there for you. Our midwives will show you postnatal exercises, our lactation consultants will support you with breastfeeding and your doctor will visit on a regular basis. You can also take advantage of the physiotherapy service. You can plan your day freely with the consent of the nursing staff between the set times (mealtimes, treatments, etc.). Please inform the nursing staff when you plan to leave the ward.
Our lactation consultants (IBCLC) are on duty on our ward from Monday to Friday 7.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m. The lactation consultant will visit you during your stay on the postnatal ward. She will support you with breastfeeding and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Our nursing staff are also trained in breastfeeding and can offer you professional advice and support.
Your attending obstetrician will visit you on the postnatal ward on a daily basis to assess your health. Your doctor will discuss your further care with the nursing staff.
Every Tuesday and Friday at 10.30 a.m., our physiotherapist will show you back-friendly carrying and lifting techniques and provide advice on posture. The physiotherapy is a group session for those on the postnatal ward. You will be informed of this session every morning by the nurse responsible and she will be responsible for your registration if you wish to take part.
