We assist people with diabetes mellitus during their stay at Klinik St. Anna, as well as outpatients who have been referred to us by their doctors.
Diabetes mellitus (known simply as diabetes) is one of the most common metabolic diseases. In Switzerland there are an estimated 300,000 people affected by diabetes.
Types of diabetes
90% of all people with diabetes suffer from diabetes mellitus type 2 (previously referred to as adult-onset diabetes).
Diabetes mellitus type 1 (previously known as juvenile diabetes) and gestational diabetes (which affects pregnant women) are other forms of the disease.
Diabetes cannot be cured, but it can be managed effectively. For this to happen, the affected person must know about the disease as well as the options for treating and managing it.
