Press release, 23 September 2015
Originally from Lucerne, Andrea Bazzani worked as a physiotherapist at Hirslanden Klinik St. Anna in Lucerne for five years, where she made a significant contribution towards the development of the sports medicine department at St. Anna im Bahnhof. In 2011 Bazzani moved to Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich and two years later she was appointed Head of Operational Development. During this time Bazzani introduced a project management system at Klinik Hirslanden and was also responsible for the expansion of several medical centres of expertise and practices. She has many years of management experience and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy.
Andrea Bazzani is replacing Jost Barmettler, who has led Hirslanden Klinik Meggen since 2000 and has now decided to retire. Jost Barmettler successfully turned Hirslanden Klinik Meggen into a specialist hospital with an outstanding orthopaedics department. He also played a key role during the sale of the hospital to the Hirslanden Private Hospital Group, as well as its integration into the Group. Before he joined Hirslanden Klinik Meggen, Jost Barmettler was the Hospital Manager of the Obwalden Cantonal Hospital for 10 years.
The Hirslanden Private Hospital Group is delighted to have found such a talented successor for Jost Barmettler among its existing staff and wishes Andrea Bazzani all the best for her new role.
The Hirslanden Private Hospital Group consists of 16 hospitals in 11 cantons, many of which have an outpatient surgery centre and emergency department. The Group also operates 3 outpatient clinics, 12 radiology institutes and 4 radiotherapy institutes. It has a good 2,000 employed and affiliated doctors, and 8,450 staff members. Hirslanden is the leading private hospital group and the largest medical network in Switzerland. In the 2014/15 financial year, it generated a turnover of 1,563 million Swiss francs. As at 31 March 2015, over 94,037 patients were being treated as inpatients at the 16 hospitals with a total of almost 453,741 inpatient days. In insurance terms, the patient mix consists of 42.7% basic, 32.3% semi-private, and 25.0% private insured patients.
The Hirslanden Private Hospital Group stands for first-class medical quality, delivered by qualified medical specialists with years of experience. As a system provider, Hirslanden stands out from the rest of the market: interdisciplinary medical centres of expertise and specialised institutes make it possible to offer the best possible individualised treatment, even in highly complex cases. The Hirslanden Private Hospital Group was formed in 1990 through the merger of several Swiss private hospitals and it has been part of the South African hospital group Mediclinic International Limited since 2007.
