André Steiner (56, married, two children), who in the last twenty years has considerably and successfully shaped the development of Hirslanden Private Hospital Group, started at Hirslanden in 1992 as Head of Finance at Klinik Im Park in Zurich. From 1997 onwards, he led the Hirslanden Klinik Aarau as Director for eleven years. Since 2008 he has occupied the post of Chief Operating Officer in Hirslanden’s Executive Committee, most recently responsible for all 15 hospitals in the Group.
His successor, Dr Daniel Liedtke (44, married, four children), worked from 2001 to 2008 in various functions in the Klinik St. Anna in Lucerne, most recently as Deputy Director. From 2008 in the position of Director, he has been at the helm of Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich. Daniel Liedtke will commence his activity in Hirslanden’s Executive Committee on 1 April 2015.
For André Steiner, the decision to leave the company and give up his exciting work was not easy. “I look back on a wonderful time at Hirslanden; at the same time the moment has arrived for a new phase in my life. I am first and foremost looking forward to considerably more time for my family and hobbies.”
The replacement procedure for a new Director at Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich has been initiated. The organisational structure of Hirslanden Private Hospital Group’s Executive Committee remains unchanged: Dr. Ole Wiesinger (CEO), Magnus Oetiker (Chief Services Officer), Andreas Kappeler (Chief Financial Officer), and from 1 April next year Dr Daniel Liedtke (Chief Operating Officer).
As of July 2014 the Hirslanden Private Hospital Group consists of 15 hospitals (from 8 August with the swissana clinic meggen 16), in 11 cantons. The Group has a good 2,100 employed and affiliated doctors, and 7,800 members of staff. Hirslanden is the leading private hospital group and the largest medical network in Switzerland. In the 2013/14 financial year, it generated a turnover of 1,437bn Swiss francs. On 31 March 2014, over 87,200 patients were being treated as inpatients at the 14 hospitals with a total of 420,000 inpatient days. In insurance terms, the patient mix consists of 41.4% basic, 33.0% semi-private, and 25.6% private insured patients. Hirslanden operates a total of 12 emergency units and emergency admission, and thus contributes to the basic medical cover for the Swiss population.
