In the fields of obstetrics and gynaecology, Klinik Im Park offers expectant mothers the highest level of safety before, during and after the birth. The maternity unit was completely modernised at the end of 2012 and now offers the most modern medical infrastructure in a stylish atmosphere.
A top priority for us is the freedom of choice for expectant mothers, thus helping them find their individual, optimal birthing method. The two modern birthing rooms are fully equipped for all birthing positions, including water births. The integrated caesarean section theatre allows planned and emergency caesareans to be performed in the familiar surroundings of the maternity unit. A wide range of accompanying options such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, homoeopathy, epidural anaesthesia and the Ultiva method of pain relief, where the mother-to-be can administer the drug herself via a pump, all help to facilitate the birth. At Klinik Im Park, over 60 experienced gynaecologists and 4 paediatricians are available.
The gynaecologist is the specialist for the female sexual organs. He conducts regular preventive medical checkups, such as smear tests of the cervix (the mouth of the womb) and breast screening. He advises women of all ages on questions of contraception, infertility and problems with the menopause.
When dealing with disorders of the female sexual organs he conducts the appropriate tests and organises the appropriate treatment. He is able to make use of a variety of drugs or – if called for – surgical interventions. The gynaecologist who has had the appropriate surgical training can, for instance, carry out a sterilisation or a hysterectomy (where the womb is removed).
The obstetrician is concerned with everything to do with pregnancy. He advises and examines future mothers during this period of their lives and is generally responsible for what goes on during the birth. With the appropriate surgical training he can – if necessary – even carry out a caesarean section. After the birth he undertakes the initial care of the newborn and advises the mother after she has given birth, and addresses any other medical issues she may have.
Anaesthetics is the study of pain relief, use of anaesthesia and resuscitation. The anaesthetist is especially important when it comes to surgery.
Before a surgical intervention he goes over all the important points with the patient, e.g. what medicines he regularly takes, or how the patient reacted to any earlier anaesthesia. He then chooses the right medicines for the upcoming operation and administers them to the patient. During the operation he monitors the patient's heart / lung activity and circulation using a variety of equipment. After the intervention he continues to monitor the patient's health and intervenes if any problems arise.
