By now you have most likely decided at which clinic you want to give birth, and thus you will also know about what equipment for labour-pain relief and monitoring devices they offer, what impression the postpartum ward makes on you, and whether the staff is friendly and competent. The principal concern is that you and your baby can get the best possible treatment in case of unforeseen complications.
The maturation of the lungs of your baby is now quite advanced. There is a real chance that your baby could survive with little support if it was born now. Nevertheless, in the case of premature labour pains you should not only take labour-inhibiting medication but also have a cortisol injection. Cortisol stimulates foetal lung maturation and can thus prevent respiratory distress syndrome after birth.
