First-time mothers feel that breathing is finally becoming easier: through the false labour pains, the baby has moved downward a bit. The head now sits tightly in the pelvis minor and your baby is ready for birth. In subsequent pregnancies, this often first occurs in the 40th week or even when labour starts; the disadvantage of this is that the muscles of the pelvic floor are even more strained.
Your child still gains quite a lot of weight. Half a pound per week is now quite possible.
