What you should do in an emergency

Emergencies occur suddenly and unexpectedly. Emergencies come at inopportune moments and require timely, correct action. What can you do when something happens?

Keep calm. Gain an overview and act decisively. In urgent cases, ring 144; highly qualified specialists are available to help you around the clock. While you are calling, stick to this reporting procedure.

Here are some tips on how to react in emergency situations. These tips can be treated as guidelines for situations in which you come across a person in distress. However, they should not be viewed as a substitute for a course in life-saving first aid.

Life-threatening emergencies: dial emergency number 144 immediately!

Non life-threatening emergencies

We are available round the clock on 0848 333 999 for non-life threatening emergencies and will provide an optimal referral service to our specialists.

Hirslanden clinics with emergency departments

In all cases of emergency, you should call first of all your family practitioner. She knows your medical history and decides whether treatment at the clinic is necessary and when it should be administered. If you can't reach your family doctor, then the emergency services of the Hirslanden Private Clinics are at your disposal.

The Hirslanden hospitals do not specialise in paediatric medicine. For emergencies involving children, we recommend you visit a children’s hospital or a Cantonal hospital.

The only exception is our Clinique des Grangettes, which has experienced medical specialists available to treat children of all ages.
