Serge Reichlin is to be the Hospital Manager at Klinik Linde. He takes over from Stephan Pahls, who has been interim manager at the hospital since 1 September 2017.

Dr. med. Serge Reichlin (49) has been Head of Managerial Services at Basel University Hospital since 2012. In that role he was jointly responsible for the strategic development of the University Hospital and in charge of the specialist units for Strategy Development, Strategic Partnerships, Strategic Operational Planning & Organisation Development, Site Planning & Construction Project Management and Marketing & Communication. In particular, he had operational responsibility for regional partnerships and was project leader for the "STAB" ("STAFF") project within the combined hospital group of the Cantonal Hospital for Basel-Land and Basel University Hospital. He was responsible for planning on the University Hospital site, including the new-build project "Renovation of Clinic K2".

Before working at Basel University Hospital, he was employed in various roles at Siemens Schweiz, most recently as Head of Health Innovation. From 2000 to 2006, he worked for the telemedicine company Medgate, for three years as Head of Hospitals and Research. In that role he developed and implemented a number of e-health solutions such as a disease management programme for lung and heart disease. He won the Swiss Society for Medical IT's Swiss IT Award in 2004.

Serge Reichlin has a doctorate in Medicine and is an FMH (Swiss Medical Association) qualified specialist in internal medicine. While in clinical practice, he worked as a junior doctor at various hospitals in Switzerland and the UK and finally as a senior physician in internal medicine at Basel University Hospital.  He also holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

Dr Stephan Pahls, who has been interim Hospital Manager at Klinik Linde since 1 September 2017, will return to his former role as Head of Business Development and a member of the Operations Committee for the Hirslanden Private Hospital Group when he hands over the hospital manager role. Serge Reichlin will take up his new position as Hospital Manager at the earliest possible opportunity.
