The Flex model is a variant of supplementary hospital insurance. If patients have Flex insurance, they can choose which ward they would like to be admitted to before each hospital admission.
For the general ward throughout Switzerland, the full costs are covered by health insurance. For the semi-private or private ward, patients are required to pay a share of the costs. The amount of this co-payment has been contractually agreed with the insurance company.
