For women in childbed
Single room for privately and semi-privately insured persons
Privately insured women enjoy the privacy of a spacious single room after they give birth. Overnight accommodation for an accompanying person and a sibling is free of charge. In addition, you have a free choice of doctor and can give birth here with your gynaecologist, provided this doctor is accredited with us.
Semi-privately insured persons also spend the postpartum period in a single room. Your accompanying person and a sibling can stay overnight with you for an additional CHF 150 per night, incl. breakfast. Please note that all other services correspond to those of the semi-private insurance class.
Maternity patients with basic insurance spend their postpartum period in a double room. The on-duty doctor will be assigned to you in the 34th week of pregnancy.
The fees listed are valid for both natural and Caesarean births.
We offer various upgrade options for your room
Here at Klinik Hirslanden, you can choose between a single or double room for your postpartum stay, depending on the insurance category. All rooms have a baby changing table and are comfortably furnished.
Depending on your supplementary insurance, the costs for room upgrades in the postpartum period are covered. Below you will find an overview of the different offers and costs:
- Basic to private: CHF 11'500 per stay
- Semi-private to private: CHF 3'500 per stay
Please consult your doctor if you wish to upgrade your insurance class. The doctor's surgery will then submit the necessary application to the hospital. The fees listed are valid for both natural and Caesarean births. Where there is a change in insurance class for mothers with basic insurance who experience a multiple birth, a flat rate of CHF 1'200 will be added for each additional child.
These prices also apply if a longer recuperation period is necessary for medical reasons after the birth. If you require inpatient care prior to giving birth, the insurance upgrade will be calculated individually.
For patients with semi-private insurance
Change of insurance class
With a change of insurance class, you can enjoy all the benefits of the private insurance class during your stay. If you wish to do so, please contact the revenue assurance department T +41 44 387 24 24 and we will provide you with a cost estimate for the planned stay.
Please note that this will only be a rough cost estimate and the stay will be billed according to the services actually provided.
A change of insurance class is only possible for the entire duration of the stay. In addition to the clinic services, all doctors' fees are also billed according to the private tariff.

If you are interested in a private upgrade, please do not hesitate to contact us on T +41 44 387 95 90. We will make a note of your interest and will contact you by telephone as soon as a suitable opportunity arises. At our clinic, an upgrade also covers medical services (doctors’ fees at private rates) and, once agreed, is binding until discharge. No subsequent adjustments are permitted during this period.
We will provide you with an approximate cost estimate along with information on current availability. Should you agree, you will receive a detailed cost estimate. Please understand that this is an estimate, as additional services may be required during your stay. The final bill will be issued after your discharge based on the services actually provided. For the sake of completeness, we would like to point out that, should you be interested, we will only contact you if a place is available. If we are unable to arrange the upgrade, you will not receive a call.
