You are soon going to be admitted to Clinique La Colline and you are wondering what your stay will be like. We hope that the following information will help you understand what to expect when you arrive at the hospital. You may be admitted either as in inpatient or as an outpatient. Your doctor will decide which is more appropriate for you.

Your stay as an inpatient

The term "inpatient" means that you are admitted to the hospital and will spend at least one night here.

Before your arrival

Our reservations department will send you various documents before you arrive that we ask you to complete and return to us in order to facilitate your admission and stay. The data you send us will be treated with the strictest confidentiality and will be used to enable us to offer you personalised care.

In the days leading up to your procedure, you will be invited for a preoperative appointment so that you can have an initial meeting in person with your anaesthetist and receive an assessment of your general state of health.

During your stay

On arrival at the hospital, you will be welcomed by a member of the admissions department who will ensure that all the information we have about you is up to date. You will also receive a folder containing all the practical information that you need.

Once the formalities have been completed, you will be accompanied to your room. A nurse will take care of you and answer any questions you may have.

The various stages of your procedure will be as follows:

  • Pre-anaesthesia consultation
  • Preparation and disinfection
  • Transfer to the surgery unit
  • Installation in the anaesthesia room
  • Anaesthesia
  • Transfer to and installation in the operating theatre
  • Procedure
  • Transfer to and installation in the recovery room
  • Possible transfer to the postoperative care unit
  • Return to your room

The nursing staff will be by your side to support you during all the stages of your hospitalisation. Please do not hesitate to ask them if you have any questions.

Your stay as an outpatient

The term "outpatient" refers to medical consultations, diagnostic examinations, visits to the emergency department and surgical procedures that allow you to return home the same day.

Before your arrival

Our reservations department will send you various documents before you arrive that we ask you to complete and return to us in order to facilitate your admission and stay. The data you send us will be treated with the strictest confidentiality and will be used to enable us to offer you personalised care.

During your stay

If you are coming for a surgical procedure with admission in the morning and discharge the same day, on arrival at the hospital, you will be accompanied to your room in the outpatient surgery unit. The nursing staff are there to listen to your needs and explain the procedure to you. Everything will be done to ensure that you feel calm and confident about the forthcoming procedure or consultation.

After your stay

You will find all the information you need under the "Your discharge" tab.

Your return home

Once the surgeon or anaesthetist has confirmed that you can be discharged, you will be able to return home. Please let reception know when you leave the hospital.

We advise you not to drive and to have someone to accompany you home. If you would like reception to schedule and/or book a taxi for you for when your leave, please just ask.

A repatriation service can also be arranged by the hospital on request and on the advice of your doctor.

On your first night back at home, try to have someone stay with you or have someone that you can call in case of difficulties.

Keep rested and make sure you adhere to the care and treatments prescribed following your procedure.

Invoicing

Your return home or transfer to another institution will be decided with your doctor. Please tell your nurse when you are leaving as there may be last-minute recommendations, medicines, prescriptions or X-rays to give you before you leave.

Hospital charges

Your invoice will be sent directly to your insurance company, whether you have been admitted as an outpatient or as an inpatient. If you wish, you can ask for a copy of any invoices relating to your care.
