The Hirslanden Group has founded the Hirslanden Cancer Institute together with the Clinic for Hematology & Oncology Hirslanden Zurich and Onkozentrum Zurich. This strategically significant step strengthens the Hirslanden Group’s leading role in outpatient cancer medicine and expands its network throughout Switzerland.

For doctors

The trend towards outpatient care is also increasingly shaping modern oncology – from initial diagnosis and acute therapies to aftercare and rehabilitation. Advances such as immunological therapies, individualised precision medicine and advanced diagnostics are increasingly enabling highly effective, less invasive cancer treatments in an outpatient setting. For patients, this means greater comfort, a quicker return to everyday life and, in many cases, shorter recovery times.

The establishment of the Hirslanden Cancer Institute has created a high-quality outpatient oncology network. The centres and network will be under the joint management of the Hirslanden Group and affiliated oncologists. The next step is to gradually expand beyond the region to become the first national oncology network in Switzerland.

Why a national oncology network?

The treatment of cancer is becoming increasingly complex. New diagnostic methods, precision medicine, immunotherapies and highly specialised treatments require close collaboration between different specialist disciplines. The Hirslanden Cancer Institute brings together leading oncologists and specialised centres to form a nationwide network that pools knowledge, experience and resources to strengthen high-quality care over the long term.

Added value for affiliated centres

Partner centres benefit from an established network with common quality standards, interdisciplinary tumour boards, knowledge exchange across sites, and attractive training and rotation opportunities. At the same time, the network facilitates access to innovative therapies and enables efficient use of shared resources and expertise.

Quality through collaboration

The quality of medical care is based on the close collaboration of specialised medical staff. Regular interdisciplinary tumour boards, shared quality standards and continuous knowledge exchange ensure that patients benefit from the latest scientific findings and modern treatment options.

Driving innovation forward together

Oncology is developing rapidly. The Hirslanden Cancer Institute is laying the groundwork for the rapid integration of new diagnostic methods, precision medicine and innovative therapies into clinical care, making it easier for patients to access modern treatment options.

Onkozentrum Zürich

For over 30 years, Onkozentrum Zurich has represented patient-centred, interdisciplinary care at the highest medical level. With its headquarters in Zurich-Enge and other locations in Zurich-Seefeld, the Zürcher Unterland region and Winterthur, it is already a major provider of outpatient oncology and offers top-quality care. The focus is always on the patients: their illness, their personal situation and their individual needs. Patients are actively involved in medical decisions, and are personally and continuously supported throughout the entire treatment process.

Clinique d’hématologie et d’oncologie Hirslanden Zurich

The Clinic for Hematology & Oncology Hirslanden Zurich (KHO) is already one of the largest private oncology facilities in Switzerland. As a centre certified by the German Cancer Society (DKG), it has the full range of modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods in oncology and haematology. The hospital is also a SIWF-certified training facility and is therefore actively involved in the training and continuing education of the next generation of medical specialists. An outstanding sign of quality: this hospital is the only private medical institution in Switzerland that offers CAR-T cell therapies – a treatment that is otherwise only available at university hospitals.

Our locations

Together, the Onkozentrum Zurich and the Clinic for Hematology & Oncology Hirslanden Zurich form the foundation stone of the Hirslanden Cancer Institute. The network is being gradually expanded to include additional locations and, in the long term, should allow patients throughout Switzerland access to high-quality outpatient oncology.
