Bern Biel Breast Centre takes part in both national and international clinical studies and research projects, with the aim of continuously improving diagnosis and treatment options for breast cancers. In addition, the knowledge obtained from scientific studies can help to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

Research studies target patients with certain characteristics, which are checked carefully by doctors through evaluations and examinations before inclusion in the study. Study-specific activities are only performed after the patients have received oral and written information and have signed the informed consent form.

Participation in a clinical study or research project is however always voluntary. Patients will not suffer any disadvantages for their further treatment if they decline to take part in a trial or wish to pull out of the trial prematurely.

In clinical research, the involvement of the ethics committee guarantees compliance with the guidelines of “Good Clinical Practice – GCP”, valid regulatory provisions and international guidelines to protect patients.
