Outpatient diabetes counselling

Outpatient diabetes counselling focuses on maintaining and/or improving glucose metabolism and optimising therapy. Imparting knowledge and promoting understanding of the disorder is also an issue in the context of outpatient care.

Close collaboration with the nutritional advisers is always ensured, both for inpatients and outpatients.

A medical prescription is required for outpatient diabetes advice. If a medically prescribed diabetes counselling is needed, the costs will be covered by basic health insurance.

Technological aids

Therapy for persons with diabetes mellitus is benefiting increasingly from advances in technology. Technological aids are intended to make it easier to manage the disorder in everyday life and improve the quality of treatment. In diabetes counselling, we help our patients find out whether options for technology-assisted diabetes treatment are feasible for them, and if so which ones.

We offer advice on the following options for technology-assisted diabetes therapy:

  • Flash glucose monitoring (FGM)
  • Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) – all providers
  • Insulin pump therapy – all providers
  • Bolus advisor
  • Questions about diabetes apps
