A mini stroke, also called a transient ischaemic attack (TIA), is the result of a sudden but temporary circulatory disorder affecting one area of the brain. If neurons in the area do not receive oxygen or energy, they stop functioning. Different symptoms appear depending on which area of the brain is affected.

The symptoms of a mini stroke are identical to those of a stroke. They last less than 24 hours and usually less than 30 minutes. In case of a stroke, the symptoms are experienced for at least 24 hours.
