Both the regular PCR test and the so-called “rapid antigen test” are available at the AndreasClinic in Cham Zug. Both tests are by appointment only. The Covid-19 test center is open to persons aged 6 years and older.

How can I get tested?

How can I get tested?

We want to offer you the best possible care and short waiting times. We therefore only perform coronavirus swab testing after you have made an online appointment. The appointment includes a short evaluation and the swab test. Whether a rapid antigen test or PCR test is suitable for the person to be tested is decided by the specialist staff at the test centre.

Please note: No antibody tests are carried out (only PCR test or rapid antigen test).

How to register for an appointment:

  • Book your desired appointment via our online appointment system below.
  • Please cancel appointments you do not need so that others can use them.

Entry to the test center
For an efficient and safe process, please note:

  • We kindly ask you to arrive on time for your appointment (about 2 minutes before the appointment).
  • Before entering, disinfect your hands and keep the mask on until the medical staff takes the swab.
  • Please have your health insurance card and ID ready. We need either the insured person number or the AHV number.

Entry Rules for Adults and Children
The COVID-19 test centre is open to adults and children over 6. For children under 12 who do not want a nasopharyngeal swab, we will do an oral swab.

Covid certificate

  • With the transmission of the test result, you will receive the official Covid certificate in German/English, provided that you pay for the test yourself or the certificate is provided according to the FOPH.
  • You will not receive a Covid certificate of recovery after a positive rapid antigen test. A certificate of recovery will only be issued based on a positive PCR test. In this case, please make an appointment for a PCR test immediately.

What do I need to know before I travel?

What do I need to know before I travel?

Please note the following information regarding travel:

  • In most cases, test results are available within 24–48 hours. Please reserve an appointment early on before your departure and inform yourself about the entry requirements.
  • The AndreasKlinik cannot be held liable for additional costs or claims for compensation of damages (e.g. in the event holidays are postponed, flights, hotel costs, etc.) that result from test results arriving late.
  • The test centre at the AndreasKlinik does not offer any travel recommendations or advice regarding entry requirements. It is also not possible to issue country-specific Covid-19 test certificates (e.g. Japan), which must be signed by a physician. For this purpose, please book an appointment with the travel medicine consultation of our infectious dieseases departement at the AndreasKlinik Cham Zug or St. Anna Luzern.

Who covers the costs?

Who covers the costs?

PCR test
The federal government covers the costs of individual PCR tests in the following cases:

  • You are being tested because you have symptoms.
  • You have been in close contact with a confirmed case.
  • You have been instructed by a cantonal authority or a doctor to have a test.

The federal government does not cover any of the costs of individual PCR tests required to obtain a COVID test certificate (for travel).

If these criteria are not met, the cost of a PCR test is CHF 131.00. You will be invoiced for the costs. For organisational reasons, you will receive two invoices for the PCR test (clinic and laboratory).

Rapid antigen tests
The federal government covers the costs of rapid antigen tests.

People without a European Health Insurance Card
The entire costs (with or without symptoms) of the test must be paid on site (with an EC/credit card).

People with a European Health Insurance Card
The bill for people with a European Health Insurance Card will be sent to the “gemeinsame Einrichtung” in Solothurn.

When will I receive my test result?

When will I receive my test result?

PCR test

In most cases, test results are available within 24–48 hours. 1 per cent of tests are invalid and must be repeated. You will receive the results of your test from the laboratory by e-mail or SMS. If no e-mail address or telephone number has been provided, your results will be sent by A Mail.

If you experience symptoms, please stay at home in quarantine, until you have received a negative test result. Even if you have tested negative, you may leave this quarantine only after you have been symptom-free for 24 hours.

One exemption to this is a mandatory quarantine ordered by the cantonal medical service (e.g. contact tracing) for those who have had contact with a person who has tested positive. In this case, it is imperative that you adhere to the requirements of contact tracing.
If you have further questions, please consult the website of the Federal Office of Public Health.

Rapid antigen test

The results of antigen rapid tests are available within maximum 2 hours. We kindly ask you not to wait for the test results on-site, but to go home. You will receive your test result from the laboratory by e-mail or SMS.

Since January 24, 2022, you will receive a certificate of recovery after a positive rapid antigen test. This is only a temporary solution in response to the limited availability of PCR tests due to the high number of cases. The COVID certificate on the basis of a positive rapid antigen test is only valid in Switzerland. If you need a recovery certificate that is also valid abroad, you have to take a PCR test for confirmation.

If you experience symptoms, please stay at home in quarantine. Since the rapid test can also produce false negative results, you should repeat the test after 2 days, if your symptoms worsen or persist. Even if you have tested negative, you may leave this quarantine only after you have been symptom free for 24 hours.

One exemption to this is a mandatory quarantine ordered by the cantonal medical service (e.g. contact tracing) for those who have had contact with a person who has tested positive. In this case, it is imperative that you adhere to the requirements of contact tracing.

If you have any further questions, please visit the website of the Federal Office of Public Health.

Please note: the test centre will close temporarily at 30th of june
