Both the regular PCR test and the so-called “rapid antigen test” are available at the AndreasClinic in Cham Zug. Both tests are by appointment only.

How can I get tested?

How can I get tested?

We want to offer you the best possible care and short waiting times. We therefore only perform coronavirus swab testing after you have made an online appointment. The appointment includes a short evaluation and the swab test. Whether a rapid antigen test or PCR test is suitable for the person to be tested is decided by the specialist staff at the test centre.

Please note: No antibody tests are carried out (only PCR test or rapid antigen test).

How to register for an appointment:

  1. Open the registration form. Fill it out completely and send it to us by e-mail by clicking on the "Send" button in the form. If the "Send" button does not work in your browser, save the form on your computer and send it in a separate e-mail directly to us.
  2. Book your desired appointment via our online appointment system below.

Who covers the costs?

Who covers the costs?

Since the 15 march 2021, the federal government will now cover all costs of rapid antigen tests. This means people can get tested free of charge even if they have no coronavirus symptoms. Please find more information on the website of the federal office of public health FOPH.

Please note: Travel certificates are still fee required. The rule will continue to apply regarding coverage of the costs of PCR tests, and depends on why you are getting tested:

  • The costs of PCR tests will be covered if you are getting tested e.g. because you have symptoms, because you received a notification from the SwissCovid app, or because you were ordered to by an authority or doctor.
  • The costs of PCR tests will not be covered e.g. if you require a negative test result to travel.

Costs for self-payers/for travelling
Anyone not meeting the FOPH's criteria must pay for the test themselves:

  • CHF 54.00 for the rapid antigen test with travel certificate
  • CHF 133.50 for the PCR test

The costs will be invoiced to you. For organisational reasons, you will receive two invoices (clinic and laboratory) for the PCR test.

Persons without a European Health Insurance Card
The total costs of the test (whether or not you have any symptoms) must be paid directly at the clinic (in cash or by EC/credit card).

What else must I consider?

What else must I consider?

We kindly ask you to arrive on time for your appointment (about 2 minutes before the appointment). Please report to the security personnel at the emergency entrance.

Please have your health insurance card ready, because we need the number of your insurance card.

Before entering, disinfect your hands and keep the mask on until the medical staff takes the swab. The Covid-19 test center is open to persons aged 8 years and older. Exception: Test due to an order from the cantonal physician.

When will I receive my test result?

When will I receive my test result?

PCR test

In most cases, test results are available within 24–48 hours. Due to increased demand at the external laboratory, results can take up to 72 hours. 1 per cent of tests are invalid and must be repeated.

You will receive the results of your test from the laboratory by e-mail or SMS. If no e-mail address or telephone number has been provided, your results will be sent by A Mail.
If you experience symptoms, please stay at home in quarantine, until you have received a negative test result. Even if you have tested negative, you may leave this quarantine only after you have been symptom-free for 24 hours.

One exemption to this is a mandatory quarantine ordered by the cantonal medical service (e.g. contact tracing) for those who have had contact with a person who has tested positive. In this case, it is imperative that you adhere to the requirements of contact tracing.
If you have further questions, please consult the website of the Federal Office of Public Health.

Antigen Test

The results of antigen rapid tests are available within 15 minutes. We kindly ask you not to wait for the test results on-site, but to go home.
You will receive your test result from the laboratory by e-mail or SMS:

  • If the result is positive, within 2 hours
  • If the result is negative, by the end of the workday

A quick test can only be performed if you provide an e-mail address or mobile phone number. If you experience symptoms, please stay at home in quarantine. Since the rapid test can also produce false negative results, you should repeat the test after 2 days, if your symptoms worsen or persist. Even if you have tested negative, you may leave this quarantine only after you have been symptom free for 24 hours.

One exemption to this is a mandatory quarantine ordered by the cantonal medical service (e.g. contact tracing) for those who have had contact with a person who has tested positive. In this case, it is imperative that you adhere to the requirements of contact tracing.
If you have any further questions, please visit the website of the Federal Office of Public Health.
