The specialists in paediatric cardiology are responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases in children through a specialised consultation and a complete technical platform.
Diagnostic tools adapted to children
The mission of the paediatric cardiology consultation is to determine a possible anomaly in the structure or function of a child's heart, or to exclude such an anomaly. It receives children from birth to adolescence, referred by their paediatrician. The reason for such a consultation is often an auscultation deemed possibly abnormal, or any symptom that could lead to the suspicion of an altered heart function. A technical platform, including electrocardiography (at rest and during exercise) as well as ultrasound, makes it possible to clarify or exclude a cardiac anomaly in the vast majority of cases.
