The emergency child services at the Clinique des Grangettes is the largest private paediatric consultation and emergency centre in Switzerland.
An open centre
The centre, a modern structure perfectly adapted to the needs of children, offers complete medical and surgical support.
It is open to all patients, even those in possession of basic insurance only. The paediatric centre performs emergency examinations for medical or surgical issues from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week and without need of an appointment. The emergency service has access to a good infrastructure on-site. The paediatric radiology unit and the presence of specialists in all paediatric fields allow for optimal care and complement the emergency services.
The circular building in a distinctly modern architectural style is surrounded by water. It is already quite visible from the route de Chêne. The most surprising feature, however, is inside: a superb central aquarium that extends up the building’s three stories, the tallest (10 metres) in French-speaking Switzerland. All the fish come from Lake Tanganyika in Africa, whose ecosystem was reproduced in the aquarium. This unique construction is a welcome distraction for the children who come to the centre. It helps them forget they are actually in a hospital.
