Cardiovascular surgery completes the management of cardiac pathologies and damage to the main arteries. It treats all acquired diseases (coronary, valves, tumors, aortic dissections) and congenital diseases (poor connections of the heart chambers, orifices persisting since birth, valve malformations).

Treatments

Cardiovascular surgery repairs or replaces diseased parts of the heart or large vessels, narrows the coronary arteries, and implants machines to help provide normal cardiac output. The heart surgeon is also able to replace the entire heart, either by heart transplantation or by implanting a totally artificial heart.

It completes the range of care needed to manage patients with heart damage of all kinds, at all stages of the disease's evolution.
