Welcome to Hirslanden Klinik Im Park. Klinik Im Park is a member of Hirslanden, Switzerland’s leading private hospital group. Our hospital features a superior medical infrastructure and offers patients the best possible safety and outstanding quality.

Registration

After your doctor has registered you for a stay at our hospital, you will receive further information about your admission, including an admission form and an anaesthesia questionnaire (if necessary). Please post us your completed admission form, anaesthesia questionnaire and a copy of your health insurance certificate as soon as possible; we can then contact your insurance company to request confirmation regarding the coverage of your examination or procedure. When you arrive at the hospital without prior confirmation by your insurance company you will be required to pay a deposit before you are admitted. If this is the case, our staff will provide you with all the necessary information.

We kindly ask that you inform the patient admission team in advance if you have any special requests, such as an extra-long bed. We will then make the necessary arrangements.

Admission

Your doctor will help you schedule your date of admission and make appointments for any necessary medical examinations.
Please report to the reception when you arrive at the hospital. Our staff will provide you with all the necessary information regarding your room (telephone, TV, radio, etc.), the public spaces and your daily routine. After you have been admitted to the hospital, you will either be shown directly to your room or to the preparation station.
The anaesthetist and the surgeon will discuss all the important aspects of your procedure with you and answer any questions you may have. In some cases, additional examinations may be required prior to the anaesthesia or the operation.

Operation and anaesthesia

An anaesthesia nurse will take you to the operating theatre and carry out the necessary preparations for the monitoring of your cardiac activity and circulation. The nurse and the anaesthetist will both look after you during the operation.

If you do not require a general anaesthesia, you can listen to music with headphones during the operation and follow the surgical procedure on a screen if you choose so.

Discharge

Your discharge date will be determined in consultation with your attending doctor and the nursing staff. Patients are generally required to vacate their rooms by 10.00 a.m. at the latest on the day of their discharge.

If your procedure is scheduled to be carried out at the Bellaria Surgical Centre, we kindly ask that you organise someone to accompany you to and from the centre. According to the current legal provisions, patients are considered unfit to drive vehicles or sign contracts for 24 hours after undergoing an anaesthesia.

Follow-up care

If you require follow-up care, please discuss this with your doctor as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding home care, health resorts, or technical or mobility aids, please ask the nursing staff. Certain technical aids can be purchased directly from the hospital. We do not offer a rental service.

Rehabilitation stay

Following major surgery, patients receive treatment and medical care at a rehabilitation clinic. Provided the rehabilitation clinic is accredited, the costs of medical services and the stay are covered by health insurance. Rehabilitation must begin immediately after the hospital stay.

Features of rehabilitation

  • Round-the-clock care and support
  • Tailored treatment programme
  • Regular visits from doctors
  • Patients do not yet need to be independent

Spa stay

During a spa stay, medical and therapeutic costs are usually covered by basic health insurance. The costs of the stay must be borne by the guest (some of these costs may be covered by private supplementary insurance). Patients are allowed to return home before a spa stay.

Features of the treatment

  • A good hotel, equipped for disabled guests (some hospital beds, walking frames in the dining room, etc.)
  • Care is usually provided by a Spitex specialist employed by the health resort
  • Physiotherapy
  • 1 to 2 doctor’s visits per stay
  • As a rule, patients must be able to look after themselves•

WE ARE HERE FOR YOU

If you have any questions or require further clarification regarding rehabilitation or a spa stay, please do not hesitate to contact the Case Management team at Klinik Im Park.
