In the area of social sustainability, Hirslanden contributes to the well-being of every individual and society as a whole. We strive to help our patients and employees develop optimally. We also initiate and support select healthcare and socially relevant initiatives.

The basis for our corporate strategy is our Continuum of Care – the principle of accompanying patients on their long journey through life, and keeping them healthy over the long term. This includes investing in prevention and diagnostics, and treating acute medical problems. We also make sure that people who come to us are well over the long term – even after they leave the hospital post-surgery, for example. We have a comprehensive range of therapies and training courses and a network that is unique in Switzerland with over 2 800 partner doctors, and close to 5 000 therapists and nursing staff.

For us, sustainability also means taking care of our employees. Thanks to their team spirit, great commitment, wealth of ideas and flexibility, we can achieve great things. We have always known this, even before the coronavirus pandemic. That is why we are working on a better work-life balance and diversity in our teams. We promote women in management positions, actively implement equal pay and offer numerous education and advanced training opportunities. Our employees also benefit from an attractive healthcare offer such as sports and fitness programmes. During the coronavirus pandemic, we had a coronavirus care team in action.

Promoting optimum development for everyone

To contribute to the well-being of every individual and society as a whole and to be the trusted partner of choice for our stakeholders, we have set ourselves the following targets:

  • We are committed to ensuring that our patients develop optimally – that they become and remain healthy. True to our purpose: «We improve the quality of life of the people placed in our care».
  • We check our patients’ satisfaction and our service quality with regular patient surveys and make improvements where necessary.
  • We ensure that our employees can develop optimally – professionally, personally and in health terms.
  • We rely on a trusting relationship with our partners (suppliers, authorities, market participants).
  • We initiate and support select healthcare and socially relevant initiatives such as BRA Day , the Pink Ribbon Charity Walk and Marriage for All.
