Core competencies

  • Oncoplastic surgery for breast cancer
  • Surgical removal of benign and malignant breast tumors
  • Oncoplastic breast reduction
  • Mastectomy (with or without subsequent reconstruction)
  • Removal of the sentinel lymph node
  • Complete removal of axillary lymph nodes
  • Minimally invasive removal of benign breast tumors by means of vacuum biopsy
Through long-term personal care of the patients, even years after a breast cancer disease, I see the high success rate of the treatment options, which confirms me in my work. Not only surgery, but also interdisciplinary cooperation with other specialists, e.g. in oncology and radiotherapy, is a basis for success. I find working together as a team for our patients to be very enriching.
Every day I experience new challenges and meet interesting people. In a profession with advanced innovation and technology I can continually develop myself and my capabilities. My patients appreciate my simple and direct manner, as well as my ability to communicate complicated medical concepts in language that is easy to understand.

In my profession as a plastic surgeon and microsurgeon I can combine exact planning and high-precision work with flexibility and creativity. Reconstruction allows us to give patients who have suffered from tumours or accidents a higher quality of life – it’s a great job to have.

  • Diagnosis and treatment of genital warts and precancerous cells around the anus (HPV-associated diseases)
Problems and diseases affecting the anus often come with a great sense of shame and restrictions on the patient's quality of life. That’s why my patients of both sexes appreciate my open and considerate manner in an atmosphere of calm during their comprehensive consultation and treatment, thanks to my many years of experience. After all, the taboo zone shouldn’t become a problem zone!

Core competencies

Surgical

  • I offer the whole range of conventional heart surgery (especially bypass and aortic surgery), as well as minimally invasive heart surgery (bypass and valve surgery).

Non-surgical interventions: patient-oriented treatment selection

  • My top priority is to determine the most individually suitable therapy for each and every patient together with them. This is only possible when a doctor has knowledge and mastery of state-of-the-art surgical techniques, following the latest guidelines. With this in mind I continually expand my knowledge according to up-to-the-minute science and the international guidelines relevant to my complex specialist field. As a result I am the first woman in the history of heart surgery at the University of Zurich to gain a post-doctoral qualification as a private lecturer, based on my paper on minimally invasive heart surgery.
The heart is seen as a mystical object, and heart surgery is a frightening prospect. But it really shouldn't be. Nowadays it is one of the safest medical disciplines, with a low mortality rate thanks to the minimally invasive methods used today (small incisions, no heart-lung machine). As the first female private lecturer in heart surgery at the University of Zurich, I specialise in these interventions. My top priority is to determine the most suitable therapy for each and every patient together with them.
My passion is providing individual counselling to women of all ages. Of course this demands specialist expertise, but also good interpersonal skills. This is because the same disease can require a completely different therapeutic approach depending on the phase of the patient's life. Topics such as family planning, sexual activity and how the patient defines herself as a woman in her own body all contribute towards decisions on surgery.
