The time of the birth is an emotional moment. You will receive professional care from the doctors and midwives on our labour ward, while the ward itself offers a warm and friendly atmosphere with a modern, medical infrastructure of the highest quality.

Birth Methods

Birth Methods - you have the choice

We support the natural birth. The freedom of choice for women is our top priority. A wide variety of options are available: be it a water birth or the birthing stool, to name but two. In certain cases, however, a caesarean section is advantageous: for example, if your doctor determines even before the birth that a natural birth involves risks, for physical or personal reasons.

Care during birth

Care during birth

The holistic support under consideration of your individual needs and wishes is our first priority. During the birth you are surrounded by your trusted professionals. Your doctor is responsible for the overall management of the birth and works closely with our midwives. During the most intensive phase we guarantee 1:1 care so that you feel safe and secure at all times.

Experienced and well-rehearsed team

In order to plan the forthcoming birth as well as possible, the procedures and interfaces with our doctors and midwives are clearly regulated, as is close and trusting cooperation. Through continuous and intensive further training, our midwives are familiar with the latest developments in birth care and will accompany you safely and routinely through your birth.

Modern infrastructure

The labour ward at Klinik Im Park offers a comprehensive and modern infrastructure. It is fitted with the latest medical equipment and offers a quiet family atmosphere.

Freedom of choice in the delivery suites

Klinik Im Park has two modern delivery suites with a birthing pool, multifunctional birthing station and a birthing stool. So, you as a mother-to-be, have the greatest freedom of choice. This freedom of choice is a central element of our birth philosophy.

Integrated theatre for caesareans

The operating theatre integrated into our labour ward allows the mother-to-be to remain in familiar surroundings during the birth, even in the case of a caesarean. Klinik Im Park ensures the highest level of safety, as emergencies can be handled swiftly and efficiently. Additionally, the mother, child and father are able to remain together after the caesarean, promoting bonding – the  relationship between mother and child – at all times.

Unique lighting effects and natural materials

The lighting concept, with the large LED light screen, is based on the five elements of traditional Chinese medicine and supports you during the birth. You can select the lighting moods yourself, for a calming, animating or relaxing effect as required.  The oak wood used on the ward provides a calm, secure and homely feeling.

Pain relief methods

We offer a wide range of alternative medical or deeper-acting pain relief methods. Regardless of your choice of pain-relief method, the team of our maternity unit is there to support you.

Alternative medical methods

Whether a soothing wrap, loosening massage, soothing aromatherapy, relaxing bath or targeted acupuncture – you can take advantage of naturopathic help to ease pain and relax.

Pain reliever

We also offer self-determined pain relief during birth using a syringe pump. With this method, the mother can give herself a painkiller at the push of a button via an infusion. The drug Remifentanil (UltivaTM) is a potent, short-acting morphine derivative. The infusion can be connected in a few minutes and guarantees the mobility of the mother. The drug acts very quickly and is quickly broken down by the body.

Nitrous oxide

The use of laughing gas is also suitable for pain relief during birth. Laughing gas is an anaesthetic gas which has a pain-relieving effect and has no influence on the contractions. It does not completely eliminate the pain, but makes it more bearable. You can control the nitrous oxide supply yourself. There are no known side effects for your child because the nitrous oxide does not enter the metabolism. You may experience dizziness, drowsiness or nausea. These side effects disappear within a few minutes when you take off the breathing mask.

Regional anaesthesia in obstetrics

In obstetric regional anaesthesia, either a single injection (spinal anaesthesia) or a thin catheter is inserted under local anaesthesia in the area of the lower spine (epidural anaesthesia). In this way, painkillers and anaesthetics can be applied directly to the pain-conducting nerves, thus relieving the pain of childbirth. In contrast to the above-mentioned use of Ultiva and nitrous oxide, this technique is performed by the anaesthetist service. This service is available around the clock.
