Hansueli Bieri fought an advanced stage of lung cancer for several years. He died from this disease in October 2018. For a long time he managed to keep the disease under control with the help of immunotherapy, and he was able to consciously enjoy life until the end – whether sharing a delicious meal with friends, playing golf or working at his long-standing job.
Hansueli Bieri enjoyed spending time at lakes. Among the ducks and the occasional jogger, he recharged his batteries and found a sense of peace and tranquillity. No one asked him how he was doing. Because he didn’t like them to. He used to say: “It’s easy to see when I’m doing well and when I’m not, so people don’t really need to ask a lot of questions.”
Quality time together
Hansueli Bieri fought lung cancer until his death. He never thought about giving up. Instead, he consciously enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, going to work and playing golf. Friendships were important to him and he loved entertaining guests: “I really enjoy having people over. If my sister can’t come over for dinner, I ring the next person – someone always has time!” said Hansueli Bieri before his death.
I’m not the sort of person who puts their head in the sand.
