The Hirslanden Group and the Spitäler Schaffhausen have been joining forces in urology since 2020 and in cardiology since 2021 in order to provide the population of the canton of Schaffhausen with optimal care close to home.
Cooperation in urology
As a result of the cooperation between the Hirslanden Group and the Spitäler Schaffhausen, patients from Schaffhausen who need to undergo a complex urological procedure in the field of highly specialised medicine have been treated at Kantonsspital Schaffhausen and at Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich since 2020. The procedure is carried out jointly at Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich, and the pre- and post-operative care is provided at the Kantonsspital Schaffhausen. Patients in the region of Schaffhausen thus receive the entire range of urological procedures up to highly specialised medicine from a single source. In this way, we increase quality and competitiveness together with the Spitäler Schaffhausen. In addition, we support each other with regard to postgraduate medical training in the medical specialty of urology.
Cooperation in cardiac medicine
We have been working together with the Spitäler Schaffhausen in cardiac medicine since 2021. This enables us to provide the population of the canton of Schaffhausen with an extended range of high-quality care close to home as well as a connection to the medical network of the Hirslanden Group.
In order to further improve outpatient and inpatient medical care for the population of Schaffhausen, the Spitäler Schaffhausen has invested in a state-of-the-art catheter laboratory and an upgrade of the existing CT machine at Kantonsspital Schaffhausen. Together with MRI diagnostics and echocardiography, this has created a centre for medical imaging in the field of cardiac medicine, where extensive outpatient diagnostic clarifications are carried out. In addition, invasive cardiological procedures can be performed at Kantonsspital Schaffhausen. Patients who require cardiac surgery or more complex invasive cardiac procedures are treated as a priority at Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich. Follow-up care is again provided at the Kantonsspital Schaffhausen. This enables us, together with the Spitäler Schaffhausen, to ensure high-quality cardiological and cardiac surgery care for Schaffhausen patients across the entire diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum.
Use of a shared DaVinci Xi surgical robot
In addition to the cooperation in urology and cardiac medicine, Hirslanden Klinik Im Park and the Spitäler Schaffhausen share a DaVinci Xi surgical robot. Thanks to this co-investment, the costs for joint procurement, use and maintenance can be shared and the cooperation strengthened.
