The Hirslanden Group is reorganising the "Outpatient Surgery Units" division as of 1 September 2023. Sascha Nicol, currently Head of Customer Care at the Hirslanden Group, will take over as Managing Director. Dr Daniela Centazzo, currently Manager of Outpatient Surgery Units, will focus on medical and professional responsibility. The new organisational structure will further strengthen the outpatient surgery units.

Since the beginning of 2020, Hirslanden has had an "Outpatient Surgery Units" organisational entity under the operational and clinical management of Dr Daniela Centazzo. Thanks to her great commitment, Hirslanden has also opened an outpatient surgery unit in St. Gallen and another in Bern in the past three years. Today, Hirslanden operates a total of five outpatient surgery units throughout Switzerland. Another unit, run jointly with Geneva University Hospitals, will open its doors in Geneva in 2025. In the course of the steady growth of outpatient surgery, the division is being reorganised and staffed to ensure continued high surgical and clinical quality.

From 1 September 2023, Sascha Nicol, currently Head of Customer Care at the Hirslanden Group, will take over the management of the "Outpatient Surgery Units" organisational entity. Thanks to his current activities, Sascha Nicol has a distinct and detailed knowledge of the Hirslanden Group's medical offering. His task will be, in particular, to optimally integrate the outpatient surgery units in their respective care regions into the care network and to realise synergies with the Hirslanden hospitals and cooperation partners. Hirslanden operates a comprehensive medical network in each care region with a clear focus on excellent integrated care, known as the Hirslanden continuum of care, in the areas of the musculoskeletal system, cardiac medicine, cancer medicine, neuromedicine, as well as obstetrics.

Stéphan Studer, Chief Operating Officer of the Hirslanden Group, had this to say: "Hirslanden will continue to play a significant role in shaping the trend of outpatient surgery and ensure a high quality of treatment. With the selection of Sascha Nicol as the new Managing Director of the outpatient surgery units, we are also ensuring that our diverse range of medical services in the outpatient and inpatient areas will be optimally interlinked. In addition, I am pleased that we can once again provide an interesting career path for a talented individual from our own ranks." Sascha Nicol will report to Stéphan Studer in his new position. The search to fill the position of Head of Customer Care has begun. Until a definitive successor is found, Sascha Nicol will continue to head the Customer Care division.

Dr Daniela Centazzo, currently Manager of Outpatient Surgical Units, will be responsible for the establishment and further development of outpatient standards as a clinical expert (Subject Matter Expert) from 1 September 2023 and will continue to strengthen structures and processes in close cooperation with Sascha Nicol. In the first months, she will ensure the transition to Sascha Nicol. She will also contribute her expertise to the evaluation of potential new units and their establishment. Due to her future focus on the clinical area, Dr Daniela Centazzo will report to Dr Dominique Kuhlen, Chief Clinical Officer of the Hirslanden Group.

Stéphan Studer says: "I would like to sincerely thank Daniela Centazzo for her enormous commitment over the past years in setting up the new units. I am very pleased to be able to count on her enormous knowledge and expertise in the further expansion of outpatient surgery. Thanks to her future focus on the clinical area, we will be able to establish even more efficient, high-quality processes. This will support high-level outpatient development within our Group and further promote outpatient understanding."
